In Memory of Bill White

Bill had a reputation for being a hard nosed adversary in the courtroom, and he took the same approach to battle cancer for nearly three years. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the White’s cancer-related drug and medical expenses.

William P. White III – December 9, 1947 – May 8, 2025

Bill (“Skeeter”) White, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away on May 8, 2025 at the age of 77, with the love of his life, Christine (nee Dobkowski), by his side.

Known for his sweet tooth, sense of humor and quiet generosity, Bill was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him.

He was born in Evanston, Illinois and attended high school at New Trier, which he proudly reminded everyone anytime the Trevians reached the State finals. Bill earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and relished talking Irish football with his sons. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law after being drafted into the Army during Vietnam, serving at the Pershing Missile School at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Bill was a prominent family and business law attorney for over forty years. He had a particular soft spot for the most vulnerable and often did pro bono work on their behalf or for anyone in need, without fanfare or recognition. A consummate gentleman, he imparted the importance of manners and chivalry on his sons and nephews.

Bill was most proud of his family. He met his wife, Christine, in December 1977, when he drove from Chicago to Rockford to take her out to dinner. Despite ordering a Banana Banshee to drink, they eventually married and remained so for 41 years. He was a proud father to his sons, William IV and Colin, and an even prouder Opa to his granddaughters, Elle and Reese.

Bill is survived by his wife; sons; granddaughters; daughter-in-law Kristina (Gordon) White; sisters Pamela Ficarella, Patricha Mears, Cynthia White; brothers-in-law Gerard Dobkowski, Donald Fiore; sisters-in-law Pat (Panico) Dobkowski, Rene (Dobkowski) Fiore, Colette (Dobkowski) Eppinger; niece Victoria (Fiore) Cohen; nephews Jay Grambling, Greg Grambling, Stephen Grambling, Christopher Grambling, Donald Fiore, Bennett Eppinger.

In honor of his final wishes, Bill’s remains will be spread in a private memorial service.
