This was supposed to be a GoFundMe to help pay for life-saving surgery for a sweet little puppy. Tragically, it did not turn out that way. My name is Brittney Moyer and I work at an emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. This is for Bella, an 11-week-old dachshund puppy that was brought into my work the day after New Years Day. She was admitted to the ICU overnight. I immediately fell in love with her. The next day, the owners were considering euthanasia. They decided to relinquish her instead. That's where I come in.
Bella was diagnosed with intestinal parasites leading to a life-threatening condition called intestinal intussusception. She needed emergency surgery to correct this, as well as hospitalization. The critical care vet said that with surgery, she had an 85% chance of recovery. Unfortunately, she didn't make it after surgery. I never got the opportunity to bring her home, to learn about her personality. I never even got the chance to hold her. All I have, instead of a happy puppy to bring joy into my life, are Bella's ashes in a tiny urn. I wanted to try to save her life, to give her a chance when the previous owners were unable to.
Even after my employee discount, the bill is substantial. I was expecting that, but more to the point, I was expecting to have a puppy to ease the sting of the bill. Now I still have the bill to pay, but no Bella. I am completely heartbroken by her loss. In such a short time, I had grown attached to her, and made so many plans for her care; all in vain. Nothing will ease the pain of losing her before I even got to know her, but some help with paying off the bill would make it easier to bear.
