The Story of Rylan, from Mom, Ashley -
On March 5th, 2024, we completed our first round of IVF and decided to insert two of our embryos. The following weeks were filled with anticipation as we awaited our confirmation ultrasound. When the day finally arrived, we were overjoyed to see that the first round of IVF was a success—we were having twins!
At 34 weeks, complications arose in the pregnancy. Mom experienced dangerously high blood pressure, low potassium, and severe swelling. With the possibility of Gellers Syndrome, the doctors decided to perform an emergency c-section for the safety of both mom and the twins.
The twins were born on October 12, 2024. Rylan arrived a few minutes after his brother. As preemies, they had to stay in the NICU. Rylan was able to come home after two weeks, and a week later, his older brother Rowan joined him. Finally, our family was together again.
Each day with the twins was chaotic and filled with joy. We took countless pictures and cherished their funny moments. They met some of their grandparents and visited new places like the doctor’s office. Every day with mommy and daddy was a happy and crazy adventure.
Unfortunately, on November 23rd, 2024, we rushed Rylan to the children’s hospital due to a fever. He was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Rylan spent his first Thanksgiving in the PICU, with nurses, doctors, and specialists working around the clock to support him. He fought hard, but after three weeks in the PICU, we had to make the toughest decision any parent could face. Despite his short time on earth, Rylan touched many hearts and will always be deeply loved and missed by his mom, dad, and brother.
On behalf of Ashley & Ali's family, we are grateful for the support from friends, family, and the medical team who cared for Rylan. Your kindness and love have been a source of strength for them during this unimaginable time.
All funds raised will go directly towards immediate expenses related to Rylan’s medical care and memorial services. Donations of any amount are deeply appreciated, your support means the world to us and helps us honor Rylan's memory.
