In Memory of Apollo, Our Feathered Princess

Apollo wasn’t just a pet; she was family.
From the moment Austen saw her, he knew she was special. While other families passed by her cage, it was only when Apollo saw him that she ran up to the glass, chirping and trying to get his attention. It was love at first sight for both of them. That night, she came home and instantly made herself part of our lives.
Apollo had a huge personality packed into a tiny, feathered body. She loved kisses, head scratches, and being the center of attention. Her favourite place was on Austen’s shoulder or nestled up beside him for a nap. She was silly, gentle, talkative, and deeply bonded to us. She made our house feel like home.
Tragically, Apollo fell ill on the night of Monday, June 9th. From June 10th onward, we took her to the vet every day, desperate to find answers and help her heal. Sean stayed up with her every night, doing everything he could to comfort her. Despite hospital stays, bloodwork, medications, and special feeding, the vet found a mass, and her prognosis was grim. On the evening of Friday, June 13th, we made the impossible choice to help her pass peacefully, cradled in our arms under the warm evening sun.
Her loss has been devastating. The emotional toll is deep, but so too is the financial one. The vet visits, emergency hospitalization, and care costs came to just over $4,000, and while we don’t regret a cent, we’re reaching out for help to ease the burden.
Thank you for reading. And thank you, Apollo, for being our girl.
