With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved Anuar passed away early this morning (Saturday, November 29th) after an incredibly courageous battle with stage-4 cancer. He fought with every ounce of strength he had, but after 18 months of unimaginable pain — and weeks in the ICU on life support — his body could no longer continue.
Anuar was not just a friend to us. He was our brother. We have known and loved him for more than 30 years. Anyone who knew Anuar instantly felt his joy, humor, loyalty, and warmth. He was the friend who made everyone laugh, checked in on people without being asked, and showed up for others even when life never showed up for him.
Growing up, Anuar faced challenges most of us could never imagine — hardship from childhood, instability at home, and an uphill battle at every stage of life. Yet despite all of it, he became the most selfless, loving, and giving person we knew. He carried light inside him even when the world gave him darkness.
His Final Weeks
In his final weeks, Anuar fought just like he always had — with resilience, courage, and heart. In the ICU, he was intubated, extubated, and intubated again, with his lungs functioning at only 15%. Through every painful moment, his loving mom never left his side. She sat with him day and night, holding his hand through every procedure, every setback, and every moment of uncertainty. She was his anchor, his comfort, and his strength.
Eventually, Anuar was able to move out of the ICU and into oncology, where he shared a few laughs, memories, and heartfelt farewells with the people he loved most.
His Final Day
On Friday, November 28th, the UCLA hospital team organized a small gathering to celebrate Anuar with his closest friends and family. We filled a boardroom with stories, tears, and laughter — and Anuar got to enjoy simple things that brought him joy, like sushi and horchata. It was a beautiful, intimate moment of love and gratitude — a final gift we will hold forever.
We are raising funds to support:
• Funeral and memorial services
• Cremation arrangements
• Outstanding ICU and medical expenses
• Support for his loving mom and family during this devastating time
No one should have to face this level of loss alone. If you are able to donate, we are deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, even sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed, donated, messaged, or held Anuar in your heart. Your compassion means more than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
Anuar's Brothers
