Honoring the Life of Angel Santiago
It is with immense sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved father, Angel Santiago. He was a devoted father to four beautiful daughters—Vanessa, Janixa, Janisa, and Angie—and a proud grandfather to four amazing grandchildren—Janiya, Mia, Malani, and Xavier. He also leaves behind six siblings and countless family members and friends who loved him dearly.
On February 16, at approximately 4 PM, we received a call that changed our lives forever. Our father was found unconscious, and CPR was performed in an effort to revive him. At the time, I was in Boston for my youngest daughter’s dance convention when I received the heartbreaking news. As I rushed home through terrible weather, I got another call—this time from the doctors in the ER—informing me that they had done everything they could, but after an hour of resuscitation attempts, there were no signs of life. In that devastating moment, I had to make the hardest decision of my life—to stop resuscitation and let my father go.
This loss was completely unexpected, and while I always saw myself as strong enough to handle anything, this experience has shown me that sometimes, we all need help. As we navigate this difficult time, we want to honor our father’s wishes and give him the farewell he deserves.
For those who have reached out asking how you can help, this fundraiser is a way to support us as we face funeral expenses, which are estimated to be around $6,000. While I don’t expect to reach that full amount, **any contribution—big or small—will help us fulfill his final wishes. We will keep everyone posted once we have more information on arrangements.
