Hello, Friends.
I'm Maria, and I have something to share with you.
Before I was born, my parents welcomed a boy to their growing family on a lovely September day in 1946. This boy would grow up to become not only a United States Marine Veteran but a diligent and hard worker, a father, a grandfather, a husband, an uncle, a cousin and always, ALWAYS a big brother. My big brother.
Alfonso "Al" Garcia, Jr. was all of those things and more to the family who knew and loved him. He was an avid reader and loved baseball. He enlisted in the Marines in 1965 and was promptly sent to Viet Nam to serve our great nation. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Al put his best foot forward and attended college in pursuit of a Business Degree. He took all he learned and applied it in every aspect of his life. He enjoyed taking young professionals under his wing and teaching them all he knew about his craft. He took the business of hard work and a strong work ethic very seriously, and he was ready to share these qualities with those just starting out on their professional journey.
Al continued, even after retirement, to give his skills in service to his family any chance he could. It was one of the most endearing qualities he possessed, and people (including me) loved him dearly for it.
On September 9, 2022, after a very short battle with cancer at the VA Tucson Medical Center, Al took his last breath and exchanged his Earthly form for a Heavenly one. I already miss him more than I can say, as do his children and extended family. Yet, I am grateful that he has transcended the pain and dons his new body while rejoicing in Heaven.
In my endeavor to acknowledge and observe his final wishes, I must bring him home to National City, CA and his final resting place. Unfortunately, due to the swift nature of his departure, we hadn't had an opportunity to fund his homegoing appropriately. So I must work to complete his desired departure according to his wishes.
I have begun the careful work of having Al brought home to National City, California and for his final internment at the Miramar National Cemetery. I have, however, realized that I will need some help.
Anything you can give will help in my getting Al home. All donations, no matter the size, are tax-deductible.
Help me send this Marine Sargeant home to The Father in a style befitting a brave and loyal veteran.
Thank you all so very much, and may God bless you!
-Maria J. Williams
