A few days before Thanksgiving, the Roberto family lost one of their children, Alexa Roberto. Alexa was diagnosed with Burkett’s lymphoma in November 2017 and sadly lost her battle to this deadly disease. Alexa graduated from the Mary Louis Academy in 2016 and was a student at SUNY Maritime College as a Marine Environmental Science major. She had a dream to have a career in rehabilitation and working with dolphins. Alexa was known as a sweet, delightful young woman who had a passion for her education. Before Alexa’s passing, she was helping her younger sister, Deanna, with her college applications. Deanna is currently a senior at The Mary Louis Academy and plans to pursue her college education. In honor of Alexa and to assist the Roberto family, we would like to create a scholarship for Deanna for her first year. College can be a financial burden to any family and Alexa would be honored to know her sister was able to attend her dream school.
