Alana fought a battle against angiosarcoma, mercifly she never knew she had this disease and though she was diagnosed with a tumour last year, the doctor's at Sunnybrook thought it was most likely a benign adenoma and decided to wait to investigate on her return to Canada and she went to Nice for 8 months and had an amazing experience there and met the love of her life Thomas. She had to be transferred back to Canada after some months of worsening symptoms with coughing up blood, anaemia, increasing pain in her abdomen. On arrival to Canada, she was admitted to Sunnybrook and then eventually to ICU on a breathing machine initially for a rest. While she was vented we learned of the diagnosis from a liver biopsy and was told there is absolutely no treatment and had she learned of this the previous summer, still nothing would have changed. We as a family, elected to leave her on the ventilator, so she would never learn of her incurable diagnosis and today we removed her from the life support before her condition worsened. It was a very tough decision to not hear her gravelly voice or laugh again. We are in a state of shock, but the only to make something negative is to do something positive.
We are wanting to purchase a bench for Alana as a way to embrace her love of her home Town down at the Whitby Shores.
