In Memory of Alan Dougherty — Help Us Carry On His Light
Donation protected
Our hearts are broken as we share the loss of Alan Dougherty — a father, husband, and friend whose presence lit up every room he walked into. After a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer, Alan passed away, leaving behind a family full of love, memories, and heartbreak.
Alan was the proud father of seven, and each of us had a special relationship with him. He was the kind of man who made everyone feel like family — always cracking jokes, always finding something to laugh about, always showing up with love.
He was a professional painter, but to him, it was never just a job. At Dunn-Edwards, where he got his supplies, he was so close with the workers that he’d walk in through the employee entrance like he owned the place — whistling, smiling, and sometimes with one of his kids trailing behind him. He’d call out, “Where’s everybody at?!” and just like that, the whole place would light up. He really knew how to make an entrance — not just into buildings, but into people’s hearts.
Alan continued working as long as he could, even after his diagnosis in May 2023, but the cancer eventually forced him to stop. He didn’t have the chance to sell his business before he passed, so the income just stopped, and life changed.
We’re starting this GoFundMe to support the love of his life, Andrea, as she begins this next chapter without her husband by her side. She’s grieving the loss of her soulmate, while also trying to manage daily life and expenses.
Your support will help:
• Lighten the financial load on our family during this difficult time
• Allow space for healing without the immediate pressure of expenses
• Support ongoing educational needs for one of Alan’s children
If you knew our dad, you know he was full of life, laughter, and heart. If you didn’t — we hope this gives you a glimpse of the man we were blessed to call ours. Any amount you give, or even a simple share, means more to us than words can express.
Thank you for helping us carry his memory forward, with the same joy and confidence he brought into every room.
With love,
The Dougherty Family
