Adrian L. Ramos, Sr. passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, as he attempted to cross the street to our local skating rink to meet one of his children. Because he was ineligible for life insurance, his family is left to meet the cost of his final expenses. Son, Brother, Father, Beloved, and Friend, he was known for his love of cars, kind heart, and ornery grin. Adrian was one of a kind. He was of the toughest guys we have ever known and he battled through more in the past few years than most do their entire lives, which is what makes this particularly unbearable.
For those that don't know, on Saturday, our Adrian was hit by two cars as he attempted to cross Linden Avenue. Sadly, he was killed in the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing. Some may also not understand the many medical issues Adrian overcame during the course of his short lifespan but, understanding them makes us realize what a strong person he was. Diagnosed with kidney failure, in just a few short years, he battled through dialysis, aneurism, stroke, and a massive heart attack (all due to a rare genetic autoimmune syndrome called AHUS), but he bounced back to love his kids and family, see his grandson born, help others(many, many times), and tinker with his beloved cars.
Because of these many life-threatening medical battles, we were so fortunate to have been afforded extra time with him and we thank God for that. However, those many battles also meant that life insurance companies wouldn't even consider coverage for him. Adrian leaves behind four children, three under the age of 18. And since his medical history left him unfortunately ineligible for any kind of life insurance, this leaves behind expenses for his burial and the care of his children. For this to happen after all he had been through, it has been utterly heartbreaking for our family, but we are overwhelmed by the kindness of others and have been supported and encouraged by so many messages and acts of kindness. Because so many have reached out about a GoFundMe account, the family has created this campaign to allow any who would like an opportunity to support us with his final expenses, a means to do so. We thank you for your support and ask that you continue to keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.
