In Loving Memory of Abdihakim — A Beloved Son, Brother, and Role Model

“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

With broken hearts and unbearable sorrow, we share the devastating news that Abdihakim, a bright and deeply loved 15-year-old boy from Saint Paul, Minnesota, passed away this Friday after a tragic incident involving gun violence. He fought for his life in the ICU for three days — and in the early hours of Jumu’ah, the holiest day of the week in Islam, Allah chose to take him back. We believe this was not just a passing, but a return to his Creator on a day full of mercy.

Abdihakim was more than just a child. He was a pillar in his community, a beloved older brother, a natural leader, and a boy with a soul far wiser than his years. He had a deep love for video games, a fierce passion for basketball, and an instinct to care for and protect his younger siblings. He was someone kids across the neighborhood looked up to — a role model whose presence lit up every space he entered.

He was looking forward to graduating middle school and starting high school. He had so many friends, big dreams, and a future he was so excited to begin. He carried a heart full of hope, kindness, and ambition — a heart stolen far too soon.

His mother, Amina (Sucdi), now has to carry the unimaginable pain of losing her son. She is in deep grief, and also burdened with enormous financial pressures: hospital bills, therapy for his grieving siblings, and establishing Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) in his name. No parent should ever have to bury their child. No mother should have to walk through this alone.

This fundraiser is to support her and Abdihakim’s family during this unbearable time — not only to help cover these overwhelming costs, but to also give them the time and space to grieve without the crushing weight of financial hardship.

In Islam, giving charity on behalf of someone who has passed away is among the best forms of Sadaqah. Every dollar you give is not only support for this grieving family, but a form of ongoing charity in Abdihakim’s name that will continue to benefit him in the Hereafter. May your donations be a means of mercy for him and ease for his family.

Please donate whatever you can, share this campaign, and keep Abdihakim, his mother Sucdi, his siblings, and all those who loved him in your deepest prayers. We ask Allah to elevate his rank, to forgive all his sins, and to reunite his family with him in the highest levels of Jannah.

Ameen.

Update: Out of respect for some family preferences, we’ve updated the photo on this page. Our mission remains the same—honoring Abdihakim’s memory and supporting his mother and siblings through this tragedy. Thank you all for your continued support, love, and du’as. To everyone who has donated, shared, and made du’a—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The love and support we’ve received over the past few days has meant everything to Abdihakim’s family during this devastating time.
