My dad was diagnosed with leukemia on December 25, 2025. He received 17,000 stem cells from my brother. His cancer was in remission. The powerful and deadly chemotherapy caused irreversible damage to his liver. Stage 5 liver damage made his body retain fluids to the point he was being drained via a tube placed in his side. He was not eligible for a liver transplant because he was a leukemia patient.
We placed my dad on hospice on July 18, 2025. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He fought the leukemia and the unfortunate chemotherapy side effects bravely, fearlessly, and with a brave smile every day. He gave selflessly to others his whole life and I am proud not only to call him my dad, but my hero!!
