Sandra's family run - Wigan & Leigh Hospice

Many people who knew my mum Sandra Morris will know she was one of the most inspirational women there was. Unfortunately in November 2021 she passed away after a long struggle with Cancer.

 

My mum's final 9 weeks were spent in Wigan and Leigh Hospice, this is a place where palliative patients recieve life enhancing care when they are either at end of life or approaching end of life.

 

When I was first told my mum would be going to the hospice I cried, alot. And when I first visited I cried, alot. However it soon became home from home, the grounds are beautiful, the care was phenomenal and the support and comfort they offered to my mum and her family was invaluable... Without them I know for a fact that my mum's final months would have been so much more difficult for us all.

 

As a family we are taking on multiple challenges on 20th March as part of the Run Wigan Festival. These range from 1 mile walks to 5k and 10k runs to 1/2 marathons. Myself David Morris and my wife Sian Morris will be completing the Half Marathon along with my Uncle, Martin Mckiernan. I will be adding a list shortly once others have committed to a challenge so you can see how many of us are behind this and want to give back to Wigan and Leigh hospice.
