In Memory of 35519 Brandon Mclean

On May 28 2025, our Brother, 35519 Brandon Mclean lost his battle with cancer. Brandon was a veteran Waterfront Worker and a long time member of the ILWU. He was registered back in Feb of 1987 when he was still just 15 yrs old and was sworn in as a Union Member of Local 500 in April of 1995. When I first started working on the Waterfront, and as many of us made our way up the boards, Brandon took us under his wing and was a person we all looked up to and someone we knew we could turn to for advice. No matter if you were a Member or a Casual, he would greet you with his big smile, instantly making u his friend while taking the time to lead you in the right direction and make u feel like u belonged.

Brandon leaves behind his partner of many many years Laura Martinelli, 2 lovely daughters Juliana and Bianca Mclean and a great number of family and friends on the Waterfront and beyond. As we all struggle with the loss of our Brother, we can understand how difficult of a time this must be for his wife and kids. To not only lose a loved one but to have to deal with the financial loss of such a tragedy. Although no amount of money could bring back our loving Brother, we can all do a little to support his family while they struggle with their loss.

One of the hardest things in life is to watch someone you love suffer...the suffering is now over for you Brandon and I know you and the rest of our loved ones in Heaven are holding it down up there for when others join u. Brandon, you were a man of dedication, loyalty and honour...you were the perfect example of what every Dockworker in the world should strive to be and you will be missed by us all. We all love u with all our hearts and we will see u when we see you. An Injury to One is An Injury to All is what we live by Sisters and Brothers and it's times like this when we step up and show it ✊❤️
