In Memory Khamhong Syravong
Hey Everyone -
The day before Mother's Day, this is difficult to write.
My name is Peter, the youngest son of Khamhong Syravong. Unfortunately on May 4, 2021 our mother passed. Khamhong is survived by three sons and one daugheer.
Born in Salavan, a Southern province of Laos, our family emigrated to the United States. First coming into San Francisco and then finally calling Sacramento, California home in the late 70s. For our mom, assimilating into the states including going back to school and working in restaurants to the fields picking strawberries. During the second half of her life, she became a single mother and did whatever she could to raise a family.
Her interests interestingly enough included music from Kenny G to Selena, Wresting (back when it was WWF), National Geographic Channel and even watching Days of our Lives. Growing up as a Buddhist, she always believed in helping her family and other people in need. I recall as a young child seeing her give money - even as poor as we were growing up - to homeless individuals and always referring to them as brother or sister. She would whisper prayers and wish them well in her own little way. I learned that from her, help out when and where you can.
This is where family, friends and strangers come in as any donations would be greatly appreciated by the family. We are grateful for any contributions in this tough time.
