In Memoriam of Yisel Lopez

The afternoon of Monday, December 9, 2019, Yisel passed away in a fatal car accident while she was driving back home to Austin. As many of you know, Yisel spent almost every weekend in Houston visiting her younger brother who is battling his second round of childhood leukemia. Yisel was elated when she learned she was a match as a bone marrow donor for her little brother. The procedure was scheduled for December 19, and Yisel was in Houston making the final preparations. She was driving home from this appointment on Monday afternoon when she was in the tragic accident.
Everyone who met Yisel was inspired by her optimism, enthusiasm, abounding energy, and kind spirit. In addition to her full-time work at our law office as a receptionist and legal assistant, Yisel attended evening classes pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice while also working a second job as a babysitter. She was an integral part of many families, as she had been a full-time nanny for a few of them prior to her position with our firm. Somehow, she was able to juggle this full-time position with her classes and childcare responsibilities. She barely had any time to be a typical twenty year-old, as she was not only providing emotional support for her brother, but she worked countless hours to financially support her family while they continued his costly medical treatment.
Every person who had the privilege to meet Yisel knew her only to be good to her core. To the very end of her life, Yisel lived selflessly and in service to others.
