In Loving Memory of Sam Del Monte
Donation protected
Husband. Father. Grandfather. Brother. Uncle. Coach. Mentor. Role Model. Friend.
My father Sam was married to my mom Barb for 51 years. 51 years! They were opposites in many ways but not in their commitment to each other and to their family. What an example they have set! To their children and grandchildren. To their brothers and sisters. To their friends and community.
Sam loved his family and he loved hockey. His can-do attitude and contagious enthusiasm spread to the players, parents and coaches he worked with and even to strangers at the rink (usually not strangers for long).
He smiled, he listened, he gave advice. Sometimes he raised his voice and gave you a kick in the pants. He gave so much of his time to others and always did so happily -- always wanting to help. He had an uncanny ability to make people feel important and heard -- whether you were talking about hockey or something else.
More than anything though he taught you to believe in yourself.
There has been an outpouring of calls, texts, emails and posts from individuals, young and old, from around the world. Many people have expressed a desire to help the family in some way and to show their appreciation and respect for Sam. Rather than sending flowers we thought this GoFundMe page made the most sense for anyone looking to give back to a man who was always giving of himself.
The money raised will go directly to my mom, Barb. Many thanks for all the support we have received.
