In memoriam of Janet Barlow

My incredible mother, Janet Barlow, lost her battle to oesophageal cancer on the afternoon of Sunday, 22nd June. Mum received her diagnosis in September 2022, with news that it was terminal coming in March of the following year. Since then, she has shown phenomenal bravery and until very recently, continued to live her life as normal, undeterred by cancer.

In the final week of her life, mum received wonderful care from the staff of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and in particular, their Caring Hands team. This care afforded mum the opportunity to retain her dignity and pass away peacefully at home with her husband, son and sister by her side. Words cannot truly express the gratitude our family have for these exceptional people. Each member of the Kershaw’s team has been so kind and compassionate. Ahead of mum’s funeral on Tuesday 1st July, and in lieu of flowers, we are asking family and friends to donate to this fantastic cause. The final donation will be made in memoriam of Janet Barlow.

The funeral service for Janet Barlow will be held at Oldham Crematorium in Hollinwood on Tuesday 1st July, commencing at 3.30pm. There will be a wake at Lowerhouse Inn in Derker to follow. All are very welcome to join us to celebrate Janet’s life.
