We are looking for your help supporting our dear friend Margaux Biggs as she faces a devastating diagnosis of stage 3 colorectal cancer.
Our names are Kristina and Hilary and we met Margaux working on the Telemetry Unit at the Comox Valley Hospital. After only a few shifts together, she became one of our closest friends.
Margaux’s gentle, selfless demeanor and witty sense of humour makes her an amazing nurse, coworker and friend. She has spent the past 17 years going above and beyond for her patients, ensuring they receive the best care at their most vulnerable time. She currently works on the Surgical Day Care Unit where her positivity and strong work ethic makes her an invaluable member of their team.
Our hearts break for Margaux, her husband Ryan, and their two young children Chloe and Cam, as they embark on the difficult road ahead. Margaux is facing radiation and at least 6 months of chemotherapy before she undergoes extensive surgery. Treatment is projected to take at least a year and will require frequent trips to Victoria and Vancouver, some of which are not covered by medical benefits. We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial burden they are facing now with time off work and the great expense of travel and accommodation. Any contribution, big or small, is so appreciated and will allow the Biggs’ family to focus on Margaux’s health.
In the midst of this trial, Margaux is optimistic and shows a strength that is truly remarkable. She is surrounded by so much love from friends, family and colleagues. We have no doubt Margaux will fight this, but she’s going to need some help along the way! Thank you for your donations, and if you can’t donate at this time we appreciate all your positive thoughts and prayers for our sweet friend.
