In Loving Memory
On February 16th, 2018 Ruthann Tucker passed away at home after 6 months of struggle with complications due to the stroke she had in the summer. She was with loved ones and was under the care of a palliative team.
Throughout her life Ruthann was dedicated to building support and home for our community. She served as as a leader in community based response for HIV/AIDS in Ontario and British Columbia. I believe her proudest moment was as the ED of Fife House where she help create 112 units of supportive housing in Toronto for those living with HIV/AIDS.
Ruthann will be remembered for the love and kindness she exuded and her understanding of the needs of the community she so dutifully served throughout her life. She will be remembered by the ones who her work has touched, her loving friends who have been beside her in her these last months, and most importantly by our family (including, of course, Betty the bulldog).

Ruthann has always wanted her ashes to be scattered at Long Beach, Tofino. Tofino holds a special place to us as somewhere to connect and heal, and has long been the place where both Ruthann and lisaj have retreated to when they are in spiritual need.
As some of you know, Ruthann and lisaj have struggled financially for the past few year and so we are trying to raise funds to help make this happen. For the last 6 months, lisaj has been the steadfast, loving caretaker for Ruthann as her condition deteriorated post-stroke. With Ruthann's passing it is time for her to have some much needed time to process and grieve this loss.
This Go Fund Me will be used for travel and accommodations for lisaj to make the trip. Thank you for any support you are able to give in memory of Ruthann and in continued support for her partner left behind, lisaj.
Ruthann, you are loved and missed. Fly with the eagles, be free.
