On August 20th, our beloved Zenghui Liu passed away after a three-year battle with stage 4 right lung adenocarcinoma, a type of non-small cell lung cancer. His passing has left his family and friends devastated, as his life was taken too soon.

Zenghui immigrated from China to the United States in the 1990s in pursuit of the American dream. Arriving with almost nothing, he worked part-time while earning a degree in Computer Science from the University of North Texas. For more than 35 years, he built a successful career in software development, all while providing for his family with dedication and love. Family was always his top priority. He always encouraged a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise and devoted himself to ensuring his children were cared for.

Running was one of Zenghui’s greatest passions. Over the years, he competed in dozens of 5Ks, half-marathons, and marathons, even achieving the incredible milestone of qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2019.

In 2022, following his diagnosis, Zenghui was no longer able to run as he once had, and he was eventually laid off from work. As the illness progressed, everyday activities became more difficult. In the months before his passing, the cancer metastasized to his spine, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Witnessing his decline was heartbreaking for our family, and the weight of these challenges has left us deeply affected.

Many who knew Zenghui and our family have reached out and expressed a desire to offer support. This page was created as a way to honor his memory and provide an avenue for that support. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and prayers as we navigate this loss.
