On behalf of Zach's mother, Rani, our family, and everyone who loved him – we are heartbroken to share that Zach Stenglein passed away unexpectedly due to an accidental overdose.
We are reaching out to ask for help covering the costs of Zach's funeral and memorial. Nothing more, not a penny over – just enough to bring him home to Minnesota from Arizona, and give him the peace and honor he deserves.
Zach was only 24 years old. He had been fighting a hard, brave battle with addiction and mental health. He was nearly 27 months sober. He had been working hard to rebuild his life – applying for jobs, staying in sober living, taking real steps forward. He wanted recovery. He fought for it. But addiction doesn’t fight fair. And this cruel disease stole our son, brother, nephew, friend – our Zach – far too soon.
We know some people don’t understand why we speak so openly about his struggle. But we have to. Because addiction is real. Mental health struggles are real. Relapse is real. And hiding it only feeds the shame that keeps people sick. Zach’s life deserves to be remembered in truth and in love – for the battles he fought, the light he brought, and the family he adored.
His mom, Rani, never gave up on him. She knew he was hurting, but she never stopped believing in him. She was so proud of him. We all were. Zach, you are not forgotten. You are free now – no more pain, no more fighting.
If you can, help us lay Zach to rest and celebrate his life. Help us give his mom the space to grieve without the added burden of financial worry.
If you’ve ever loved someone who struggled… if you believe every life matters, even when it’s messy and hard… if you’ve ever lost someone to addiction…
Help us honor Zach.
