Will was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer on October 30, 2017.  He went through four rounds of intense chemotherapy and then went in for surgery to attempt to remove a portion of the tumor on January 25, 2018.  However, the cancer was so advanced that doctors told him nothing could be done.  He was ultimately placed into hospice care and spent almost a month watching his body change and deteriorate. On February 24, 2018, he died at Good Samaritan Hospital (the same hospital where he was born 32 years earlier).

My husband was 32 years old when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.  He was 32 years old when he went through rounds of chemotherapy that took a physical and emotional toll on him.  And he was 32 years old when he died.

Will was a man of faith and it was his faith that kept him strong and determined until the very end of his life. He bravely fought the disease as long as he could and then bravely accepted God's plan when he found out no more could be done.

My husband described himself as a simple man and he had only one hope at the end of his life... that from his death a cure could be found for this terrible disease.  This is why I am setting up this fundraising platform in his memory. Will preferred to keep things simple, which is why I am requesting that in lieu of flowers, family and friends donate to this worthwhile cause instead.

100% of the proceeds from this account will be sent to the American Cancer Society and earmarked specifically for colon cancer research in honor of Wilberth Murillo.
