Dear Family and Friends, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vladislav Markov, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and a dear friend to so many of us. Vladislav passed away on Wednesday, September 3rd 2025, at the age of 55.
Vlad grew up in Moscow, Russia. Being incredibly talented, he received his music education from Sveshnikov's Moscow Choral Academy and Moscow State Conservatorium. Vlad studied Russian sacred music at Danilov Monastery in Moscow. He performed with St. Daniel's chorus throughout Europe. After moving to the United States, Vlad became a music director at Holy Trinity Church Brooklyn, NY, and performed with a choral group Eterna Muzica at many acclaimed concert venues including Carnegie Hall and Trinity Church in New York City.
Since 1995, Vlad faithfully served our church: St. Andrew Stratelates Orthodox Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Florida. For 30 years, Vlad was so much more than a choir director, he was a beloved brother in Christ, an indispensible member of our community. Vlad was an inspiration to so many: he was generous with his time and expertise when passing on his knowledge through music and voice lessons to countless students in our community. Throughout the years, he was an essential member of numerous choral groups including Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Richard Zielinski Singers, ensembles Mir and Concordia. Every summer Vlad took part in the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria. He preformed with the St. Pete Opera, Opera Tampa, South Florida Lyric Opera.
Besides his passion for music, Vlad was an avid skydiver. He achieved over 200 skydives.
Vlad will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
"With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Thy departed servant, Vladislav, where there is neither sickness nor sorrow nor sighing, but life everlasting. Amen."
Please keep Vlad's family in your thoughts and prayers. May God give them comfort and strength in this difficult time.
