Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

With heavy hearts, we are reaching out to support our dear friend Candy as she navigates the unimaginable loss of her father, Victor. He was not only her dad but her rock, her protector, and her greatest supporter. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in her life.

Victor’s journey was one of immense resilience. In April 2011, he suffered a grand mal seizure and a heart attack, which resulted in an anoxic brain injury and left him quadriplegic. He was deemed in a comatose state for nearly 14 years, during which time Candy, her mother, and her brother provided him with unwavering love and care. Despite his strength, his body endured years of challenges, including frequent hospitalizations for pneumonia over the past year. Each time, his recovery took longer, and this final hospitalization was one he could not return home from. On Wednesday, February 19, Victor’s heart stopped, and his body finally found rest.

As Candy and her family grieve this profound loss, we want to come together to support them in any way we can. In addition to the emotional toll, there are significant financial burdens, including:

Funeral expenses to give Victor a dignified farewell

Transportation of his body back to Mexico so he can be laid to rest with family

Outstanding medical expenses from his years of care and recent hospitalizations

Providing meals for Candy and her family during this difficult time

Candy is one of the most selfless, kind, and loving people we know. She has always been there for others, and now it’s our turn to be there for her. Our goal is to help relieve some of the financial stress so she can focus on healing and honoring her father’s memory without the added worry of financial strain.

Con el corazón roto, queremos apoyar a nuestra querida amiga Candy mientras enfrenta la inimaginable pérdida de su padre, Víctor. No solo era su papá, sino también su pilar, su protector y su mayor apoyo. Su partida ha dejado un vacío irreparable en su vida.

La historia de Víctor es una de resistencia y fortaleza. En abril de 2011, sufrió un ataque epiléptico (gran mal) y un infarto, lo que resultó en una lesión cerebral anóxica y lo dejó cuadripléjico. Durante casi 14 años, fue considerado en un estado de coma, Candy y su madre se dedicaron a su cuidado con amor incondicional. Durante el último año, enfrentó constantes luchas con la neumonía, siendo hospitalizado cinco veces antes de su fallecimiento. Cada vez su recuperación fue más difícil, y en su última hospitalización, su cuerpo ya no pudo más. El miércoles 19 de febrero, su corazón dejó de latir y finalmente encontró descanso.
