In Loving Memory of Trudy Barraza
On August 20, our family lost the heart of our family, Trudy Barraza — our mom, grandma, wife, and the woman who loved and cared for so many of us. Trudy was so much more than a grandma. She helped raise all 12 of us and was a mother figure to so many. She was loud, funny, loving, forgiving, and the kind of person who always welcomed you back with open arms. She put everyone before herself and was always there when someone needed her. She was our safe place, our biggest supporter, and the rock that held our family together.
On August 20, Trudy was traveling on I-58 with my siblings when debris from a truck — a trash can that flew from the truck bed — caused a devastating accident. After the debris fell out of the leading vehicle, the car Trudy was in was rear ended. My brother and sister survived with minor injuries and bruises, but we tragically lost Trudy. There are no words for the pain of losing the woman who spent her life taking care of everyone else. We now want to take care of her by giving her the beautiful and dignified farewell she deserves.
Donations will help cover her casket, church funeral service, burial, and funeral expenses, with the hope of giving her a resting place where my grandpa can one day be beside her. If you can donate, no matter the amount, our family would be incredibly grateful. If you cannot, sharing this fundraiser or keeping Trudy and our family in your prayers means just as much. Trudy would have done anything for any of us. Now it is our turn to do something for her. Thank you for helping us honor the woman who spent her life loving everyone else. She will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be the heart of our family.
