It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to share the sudden and untimely passing of Tomas Moghadam.

Tomas was a beautiful person with a brilliant mind.

He was extremely widely read and could converse in depth with anyone on most subjects and challenged us to think deeply. Tomas left a strong and lasting impression on everyone he came into contact with due to his caring and supportive nature as well as his witty approach to life.

Tomas was a remarkable and gifted researcher and was passionate about physics and engineering. His research area and his work at PGM Reball focused on the touchpoint between these two disciplines.

Tomas’ research:

Tom was working on groundbreaking research where he analysed and measured the forces and vibrations between bolted joints and translated them into mathematical equations. The aim of the research was to create predictive computer models to model how parts might move or fail during transport. His work blended physics with real-world engineering, aiming to make systems safer and smarter.

As a physicist, Tom created curves from algebraic functions and, as an engineer, he moved in the opposite direction, taking the curves of engineers drawings and transforming them into algebraic functions. He worked and studied at the bridge between these two disciplines: where imagination and visualisation meet precision.

The Tomas Moghadam Foundation

Tomas was taken from us at the very start of his career but he had already made a huge impact both at work and in his research.

In his memory, his parents and family intend to create a foundation in Tom's name called The Tomas Moghadam Foundation.

The aim of the Foundation will be to fund a scholarship for a research student or research activity specifically at the intersection of Physics and Engineering overlap.

To make a financial start for the Foundation, Tom's parents are asking for any donations in lieu of flowers for the funeral to be directed to the fund. The Tomas Moghadam Foundation will be formed as a charity and will continue his work which is what we believe his sincerest wish would be.

Tom’s passing is an unimaginable loss to our family, his friends, and the field he was devoted to. He will be deeply missed, and whilst his love and personal legacy will live on in those of us who knew him, we feel deeply that Tomas would have wanted to continue to make an impact in the areas of work he loved most.
