TAPS Support and Footprints Baby Loss
Last year, our hearts were shattered when we lost our precious twin boys, Tiago and Julian, at just 8 days and 2 months old. They passed away due to Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) and Twin Anemia Polycythemia Sequence (TAPS)—conditions that were not diagnosed during pregnancy.
Born prematurely at 32+2 weeks via emergency C-section, Tiago and Julian faced numerous medical challenges, made worse by insufficient monitoring throughout the pregnancy. Key MCA and PSV Doppler scans which are vital in high-risk twin pregnancies, were not performed consistently, delaying their diagnosis and vital interventions.
Tiago, our recipient twin, suffered a heart attack just hours after birth, which caused devastating brain damage. He fought for 8 days before passing away. Julian, our donor twin, endured two months of surgeries, transfusions, and relentless fighting before passing away to end-stage liver failure.
In memory of our beautiful boys, we are organizing a family-friendly hike to raise awareness of TTTS and TAPS and to support much-needed research and resources. This event is open to all ages - children and pets are welcome! We invite you to wear yellow or blue in honor of Tiago and Julian.
Event Details:
• Date: 26th July 2025
• Time: To Be Confirmed
• Location: Catbells, Lake District
• Duration: 2-3 hours (family and pet-friendly)
