Her name is Debi Golembieski, but since many people can't pronounce her last name, she simply goes by Debi G. or as we like to call her-- Green Mother***.
Along with many other small business owners, Debi has struggled to keep her store open during this past year. This seemingly unending pandemic, and a series of very unfortunate events, have kept her barely able to afford the gorgeous retail space in downtown Asheville. And just when you think things couldn't get much worse, it literally became her worst possible nightmare.
Debi's eldest son was tragically struck by a car and passed away this past Saturday, January 9th, 2021.
Terran Oakley Martin was 24 years old, and was born to Debi Jean Golembieski and Sean Ashton Martin July 2, 1996, in Boone, NC. He graduated from Watauga High School with honors, then attended both Caldwell Community College and A-B Technical Community College.
In addition to his parents, Terran is survived by his siblings, Paxton Martin of Charlotte (13) and Sylvia Martin of Asheville (10); his loving grandmothers, Marcia Shaffer of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Patricia J. Golembieski of Roswell, GA, and grandfather Ted J. Golembieski and his wife, Mary M., of Woodstock, GA; his Uncle Joe Golembieski, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins across West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, North Dakota, Arizona, and California.
<3 Terran, a kind, thoughtful, sweet boy with a curious mind and a quirky sense of humor, is loved deeply by his family and community. He will forever be missed. <3
Due to the pandemic, we have created a virtual memorial. (LINK TBA HERE). You may leave love notes of encouragement and you share your fondest memories of Terran with others. Remember, it is through these stories that Terran's spirit will live on in all of us.
Many of you have reached out asking "How can I help?" Simply put, a donation would be the most useful.
Debi needs time to grieve the loss of her child, and should not be expected to have to go right back into work. In the meantime, Green Mother Goods has employees to support and customers to serve. Please help us raise enough money to give our Green Mama a HUGE blessing!!! I personally don't know anyone who could use this more right now.
Money will be directly deposited into Debi's account, and will go to pay both personal and store expenses, including vendors, payroll, and rent if need be.
<3 GOD/DESS BLESS YOU <3
