With our deepest grief and unimaginable sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Tekilu H. Aweka, a devoted father, brother, and grandfather.

Tekilu had traveled from Ethiopia to Seattle, Washington to spend time with his beloved son, Belay Tekilu and grandchildren. What began as a beautiful and joyful time together quickly turned into a tragedy none of us could have imagined. As he began his journey back home to Ethiopia, Tekilu suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack mid-flight, passing away far from his homeland and those waiting to welcome him back.

This family humbly ask for your support. Whether it is through a contribution or a prayer, your kindness during this time means more than words can say. Your support will help us cover the high costs of international repatriation and funeral arrangements.

Though we mourn deeply, we do not mourn without hope. We trust in God’s promise and believe that Tekilu’s soul now rests in eternal peace.
