In Loving Memory of Sunjeet Rai
On Thursday 21st January 2021, our dear friend Sunjeet Rai, also known as Sunny by his family and friends, was sadly discovered in his home after taking his own life on Monday 18th January 2021. Sunny was a quiet and simple guy, who loved the finer things in life including high-end coffees, cakes, meat, and extra-large portions of food. He is remembered by many for his funny, witty, and man-like attitude. Sunny was a proud and laid-back guy who took everything in his stride, without fail he would put a smile on the faces of those around him.
We as a group of his friend's/work colleagues are simply lost for words. It would have never occurred to us that Sunny was in a dark place and would one day take his own life for reasons which are completely unknown to us. We pray that he is at peace from whatever demons he was facing or whatever pain he may have been in.
For those who knew Sunny, this death has left an incredible hole that will never be filled. Whilst we are devastated by the loss, we are extremely grateful that not only did we have the chance to know Sunny, but that we are also very fortunate to call him our friend. Those who knew him will have nothing but amazing fond memories of him, from his killer one liner jokes to his extremely friendly attitude, great nights out, and his endless supply of checkered shirts!
Like many of his loved ones, we have so many unanswered questions and know that some of these may never be answered, our prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time and we wish you much strength and courage.
In loving memory of Sunny, we have set this page up to raise money for the Samaritans of Leicester charity. The Samaritans are available 24/7 and provide confidential, emotional support to those in need of a safe space to talk over problems, feelings, stress, or anything that may be worrying them, especially those in extreme despair and anyone suffering from their mental health.
We have also set up a virtual card which will be presented to Sunny’s Family. Please take a moment to sign the card as well as share any memories and photos you would like.
