It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of our beloved aunt, Sunita, who passed away at just 48 years old after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in August 2024, and since then, her life became a painful journey of hospital visits, treatments, and hope.
Sunita fought with incredible strength for nearly eight months, undergoing treatments and fighting until her very last breath. She spent her final two months in the hospital, battling complications as the cancer spread to her liver and kidneys. Despite trying every possible treatment, including ayurvedic care, her body could no longer take the pain.
She leaves behind a grieving husband and two young children — a son and a daughter. Her daughter is of marriageable age, but in India, marriages require financial support — and without it, families are often unable to proceed. This has added even more stress to an already heartbroken family.
In addition to emotional pain, the family is burdened by heavy financial debt from medical treatments, borrowed funds, and outstanding hospital bills.
Sunita came from a humble background and was the backbone of her family. She worked every day as a cook to support her loved ones and keep her household running. Her husband had a small clothing business, which unfortunately shut down during the COVID pandemic, and did not had stable income since then, leaving the family with little to no income.
To fight the illness, the family used every bit of their savings, sold all household jewelry, and even borrowed large amounts of money from friends, relatives, and lenders. They are now living in a rented home and facing the heavy burden of repaying creditors who helped during Sunita’s treatment.
This GoFundMe has been created to:
- Help pay off remaining hospital and treatment bills
- Repay the borrowed money from friends, family, and private lenders that were taken for Sunita’s treatment
- Support the family as they recover from financial and emotional loss
- Contribute to the daughter’s upcoming wedding expenses
- Provide stability for her son’s future and daily living needs for the family
