In Loving Memory of Steve Matheson

On Saturday, August 29th, our dear friend Steve Matheson tragically lost his life in a lightning strike while riding a jet ski off the coast of Florida. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, and community heartbroken and trying to navigate a loss that no one could have ever imagined.

Steve was a wonderful man, devoted husband, and loving father. He absolutely adored his wife, Abbie, and his four children. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. He was the kind of husband and father who loved deeply, showed up fully, and made his family the center of his world. Second place to that would be his love for football, especially BYU football.

Steve also had a strong and unwavering faith in his Heavenly Father and his Savior, Jesus Christ. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his faith was an important part of who he was and how he lived his life. His love for his family and his faith were evident in the way he treated others and the life he chose to live.

There are no words that can truly express the magnitude of this loss for Abbie and their children. Along with the emotional heartbreak of losing Steve, they are now facing unexpected expenses of bringing Steve back to Utah, funeral expenses, and the financial challenges that come with such a sudden and devastating loss.

We are asking for help to surround Abbie and the kids with love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burdens they are facing and allow Abbie to focus on her children and their family as they grieve and begin to navigate life without Steve.
