In Loving Memory of Stephen Sperlein
Donation protected
It is with great sorrow that we lost Steve Sperlein to health complications. He will be missed dearly. Steve was a guitarist, fisherman, skilled machinist, mechanic, and even his own contractor. Some might say he was a professional tinkerer, a very well-rounded man. But most importantly he was a father. A father to one of my dearest friends, Nicholas Sperlein. Steve was the kind of father that treated his son’s friends as sons of his own, and we will never, ever forget how welcome he made us feel.
I’d like to share one of my fondest memories of Steve, and it will put into perspective the kind of man I described him to be above.
Nick and I, along with a few other friends, were on our way back to Nick’s house after a trip to Wawa. I didn’t realize it, but I beat Nick back to his house and walked up to his front door. I never walk into his house, even if I know his home. I always knock first. But for whatever reason, I thought I saw Nick in his house, and I walked right in. It wasn’t Nick, it was his dad. I profusely apologized to him saying “I am so sorry, I thought I saw Nick inside. I didn’t mean to barge in”. His response shocked me.
In the most nonchalant and warming voice, he said,
“It’s all good brother, what’s mine is yours”.
And that was the kind of man he was. He meant that. He loved having good company and always made sure those around him were content.
This GoFundMe is to help the family pay for funeral/memorial expenses. Any contribution is greatly appreciated.
