In Loving Memory of Sonam Yadav – Help Bring Her Home

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend, Sonam Yadav, a vibrant and kind-hearted 23-year-old international student from India. Sonam had been studying at Keyano College in Fort McMurray, Alberta, working toward a brighter future not just for herself, but for her family back home.

On June 2, 2025, Sonam tragically passed away in Toronto after a month-long struggle with undiagnosed medical issues. Despite multiple visits to hospitals for severe stomach pain, she was repeatedly sent home with antibiotics and without a proper diagnosis. Her condition continued to deteriorate.

Her family had arranged for her to return to India for further treatment, and her flight was booked for May 31st. Just hours before departure from Toronto Pearson airport, Sonam collapsed and was taken to Etobicoke General Hospital, where she was unfortunately declared fit to travel. She collapsed again at a friends place in Toronto within 6 hours after dismissal from Etobicoke hospital and was rushed to St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. There, doctors finally discovered a tumor in her large intestine — a diagnosis that came far too late. The tumor had ruptured, leading to a serious infection, heart failure, brain swelling, and ultimately, multiple organ failure.

Sonam passed away peacefully at 4:35 PM on June 2, 2025. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

We are raising funds to:
Bring Sonam home to India so her family can perform her final rites.

Support her family in covering outstanding student loans and funeral expenses.

Sonam came from a proud Indian army family and was known for her bright spirit, determination, and warmth. She touched many lives and had a future full of potential — one that was taken far too soon.

The Brampton Crematorium is currently assisting with arrangements for transporting her remains to India.
