There are no words that will capture nor describe the pain we are in as we gather the words to write this.

It is with the heaviest hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved daughter, Shirley Alvelo. She was more than a mother, daughter, and friend — she was a piece of our family we have lost, that we cannot replace. She was a free spirit who touched everyone who had the joy of knowing her and was authentically herself. She brought laughter everywhere she went and had a smile that would brighten up your day. A beautiful soul who gave love without limits and who was deeply loved. She was a loving and caring soul who not only wanted what was best for herself, but for others as well. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave and the memories we hold will stay in our hearts forever.

Shirley Alvelo came into this world on November 26th, 2000, and gained her wings on Tuesday, October 21st. She left behind a beautiful daughter who was her pride and joy and who will forever be her legacy, a reminder of the love and light she brought into the world.

As we grieve this unimaginable loss, the expenses that come with saying goodbye are more than we can handle alone. We are asking for help from friends, family, and kind hearts everywhere to ease this burden — whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this page — to help us give Shirley a farewell that reflects the love and light she brought into this world. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go to her funeral arrangements. Any money that is left after the funeral has been paid for will be placed in a trust fund for her daughter she left behind.

Era más que una madre, hija y amiga: era una parte de nuestra familia que hemos perdido y que no podemos reemplazar. Era un espíritu libre que conmovió a todos los que tuvieron la alegría de conocerla y era auténticamente ella misma. Llevaba risas a dondequiera que iba y tenía una sonrisa que alegraba el día.
