March 22nd 2018, My mom Shannon Davis was admitted to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital to be treated for what we thought was a stomach ulcer. My mom underwent surgery and found herself in the ICU because she went into septic shock due to her bowels perforating. During this time Taylore and I had to undertake the responsibilities of the household while maintaining jobs and making sure my mom had everything she needed to recover. My mom underwent more than 25+ surgeries, and spent the next year in the ICU. My sister and I made sure my mom was comfortable, we spent holidays, birthdays and did most celebrating there in the hospital with her. There was plenty of times where we thought she wouldn’t make it, but she preserved and came back 10x times stronger. My mom has always been a fighter no matter what the circumstances, she always made a way to find the good in every situation even giving the fact that during her time in recovery our beloved dog had passed. After 12 months at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital things we’re finally looking up for my mom as she was moved to a medical rehabilitation facility on March 17th, 2019 to regain her strength and finish the recovery process. My mom was then able to come home May 25th 2019, unfortunately she still had healing to do but was so excited to be home with her children, grandchild and god daughter. She was also excited to start living her life again, made so many plans, and got right back into doing what she normally would as if she hadn’t been in the hospital all that time. After the few short months that she was home, she experienced minor complications which resulted in hospital visits serval times but again my mom pulled through and each time was stronger, giving her the motivation to want to keep going. September 13th 2019, my mom was admitted to the hospital once again for what they thought was a minor infection of a G tube that was still her body due to health reasons as well as dehydration. They gave her antibiotics, ran test and later that night she assured the nursing staff and family that she was feeling fine. September 14th 2019, I received a phone call from the doctor at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital giving my sister and I the worst imaginable news we could receive. At 10:20am my mom had passed away. It was very unexpected and we were not prepared to lose our mother so suddenly. At this point in time my sister and I, were also not prepared for funeral arrangement expenses. We are asking for help in this difficult situation to give our mom the proper burial she deserves. We also would like to thank any and everyone who donates in advance for your support and contribution!❤️
