It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sev, Chelsea’s beloved cat and first pet. Sev wasn’t just a companion—he was a healer and a constant source of love during some of the most difficult chapters of Chelsea’s life, in addition to loving all of us who got to be his roommate or sitter on the weekends when Chels was out of town.
Sev had a personality as big as his heart. He was snotty, sassy, and wise beyond his whiskers. He loved wet food, his grey blanket, head butts, and—most of all—being outside, where he would quietly observe the world with a calm curiosity. But what made Sev truly special was his ability to sense when someone was hurting. He would curl up beside you, purring softly, offering comfort in a way that felt almost human. During Chelsea’s journey through sobriety, Sev was her anchor—her light in the darkest moments.
In addition to other complications, such as a life with FIV+ and asthma, Sev recently fell ill and required emergency veterinary care. Chelsea did everything she could to save him, staying by his side in the hospital, hoping for a miracle. Sadly, Sev crossed the rainbow bridge on September 18th, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love with his person(s), Chelsea, Luke, and his kitty sister, Izzy.
Now, we’re asking for your help. The cost of Sev’s care totaled around $6,000, excluding the income their home lost while he was in the hospital. We’re raising funds to help cover:
-Emergency vet bills & Cremation
-Lost wages during Sev’s final days
-A small cushion to help Chelsea & the fam while they heal
No amount is too small. Every donation is a tribute to Sev’s life and the love he gave so freely. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign. Your support—financial or emotional—means the world.
Thank you for being part of Sev’s story.
