Rommel Bernarte, our loving Dad, Husband, Son, Brother and Friend was taken from us on Saturday 11th April 2020 after his battle with Covid-19. However, we should all remember that the measure of life is not about the length that it has been lived in years, but in the fullness of how it has been lived
It fills us all with such an enormous sense of pride the huge impact he has had, and will continue to have, on so many people’s lives across the world. The Coronavirus is indeed infectious and it has robbed us of many more years with him… but in turn, it is evident how infectious our dad’s kindness, support, generosity and smile has been to the multitude. He has had an immense impact on so many lives and has left an impressive legacy behind.
As most of you know, in late 2009, our dad received a liver transplant- a second chance of life. He was always was a fighter and due to his indomitable spirit, he managed to survive the treatment. We will be forever thankful to everybody at The Royal Free Hospital, especially those in the Liver Transplant Unit, as they worked tirelessly to save my dad. Words cannot begin to describe how lucky we are to have been blessed with 10 additional years with him, and for these reasons we would like to offer our support by raising money for them.
Furthermore, we would like to support those working at Darent Valley Hospital, especially within the Intensive Care Unit. We are incredibly indebted to those who helped our dad until his final moments. They did everything in their power to keep him comfortable and he passed away with great dignity and peace; we are forever grateful to them.
We ask our family, friends and the public to please try and give as generously as possible. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will be appreciated. The funds raised will enable both hospitals to continue their invaluable work in helping their patients, just as they did so for our dad.
Keep smiling, Dad, we’re all going to miss you.
