I am writing this on behalf of the Ordoñez family during an incredibly difficult time. Rodrigo, originally from Guatemala, came to the United States with his father, Cesar, about a year ago. Full of hope and ready for a new life, what they believed would be a fresh beginning instead became an uphill battle against lung cancer. Only a few months after their arrival, in March, Rodrigo became seriously ill and was diagnosed with lung cancer.
What they hoped would be a battle he could soon overcome turned into a long and heartbreaking journey. After enduring treatment, Rodrigo was later diagnosed with leukemia. Over the past nine months, Rodrigo spent countless days in and out of hospitals, undergoing intense treatments that took an enormous toll on his body and spirit. Despite unimaginable pain, he fought with incredible strength and courage. Sadly, Rodrigo passed away late Friday night. He was only 25 years old and had his entire life ahead of him.
Now, his father, Cesar, is left not only grieving the loss of his beloved son but also facing overwhelming financial burdens. With no close family in the United States to lean on, Cesar is responsible for funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the cost of returning Rodrigo to Guatemala so he can be laid to rest in his homeland, surrounded by family. Throughout Rodrigo’s illness, Cesar worked tirelessly to support his son, doing everything he could to make ends meet. He also supported his niece, who became Rodrigo’s primary caregiver during treatment, ensuring that Rodrigo was never alone and always had family by his side.
Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to this family during such a painful and uncertain time. Your support will help ease the financial burden and allow Rodrigo to be returned home with dignity and love.
My name is Liliana and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the Ordoñez family. My father is a close friend of Rodrigo’s father, Cesar Ordoñez, and I wanted to support their family in this way during this difficult time. All funds raised will be given directly to Cesar Ordoñez to help cover funeral expenses and the cost of returning Rodrigo to Guatemala.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
