Amongst all of the craziness that has been this year, we were bombarded with the news in September that our dad was diagnosed with cancer. For months, we watched as he fought his way through chemotherapy and constant doctors' appointments. We all thought that while he was struggling and of course he had his bad days, he was getting better and was going to be okay. Last week we learned that there was nothing else the doctors could do, and he was going to be put on hospice. From then on, my family and I did everything we could to keep him comfortable during his last days. After a few tumultuous days of fighting to stay with us, my dad passed away December 31st, 2020 at 2:38 a.m. surrounded by his children, his wife and a few close loved ones.
We are asking as a family for any donations to help pay for his funeral expenses. Unfortunately, we were unprepared for this and are asking for our friends, family and everyone in between for help during this time. We of course understand that we are also in a pandemic and lots of people are struggling and unemployed, so please do not feel obligated to donate. It would mean the world to us if you would share this instead.
My dad was loved and cared for by a lot of people, and we want to celebrate his memory the best way we can.
If it's one thing I learned about my dad during this experience, it's that he was definitely a fighter, and that's how I'll always remember him.
