In loving memory of Reese Doyle

Many of you have now heard that our beautifully-spirited friend and brother Reese Doyle died on Monday, 8-9-21. He was out doing one of the things he loved most, kayaking. He was with several good friends on a river he had navigated many times when the accident occurred.

Reese was an accomplished and well-experienced mountain guide and adventurer, from rivers to mountains around the world. He was the embodiment of pure love and joy. Anyone who had the good fortune of crossing paths with him knows from experience what an incredible gift he was to all he encountered. A friend of his said it best on social media, "There are two types of people in Alaska. Those who were friends of Reese Doyle and those who hadn't met him yet". Reese's passion for living was infectious, and that energy touched everyone he ever met. He was a master and a legend, yet never needed the spotlight. He packed more into his thirty-six years of living than most people could do in ten lifetimes. All the meaningful things we seek in life, Reese lived. He lived free and without fear. He died doing what he loved, and we think all of us can take something away from that.

He loved his life, and one of his greatest loves was his family, especially his fianće Robin. They all shared that special love that everyone seeks in life. The authentic, unconditional love that shines with such brightness. You can imagine how devastated they all are right now. He was their heart.

We've formed the GoFundMe to offer support and love to his family during this incredibly challenging and complex time. We want his parents (Gene and Debra) to take the time they need to go to Alaska and take care of what remains of Reese's life without financial strain. Reeses' strong, courageous, and loving fianće Robin also needs all the love and support she can get. Robin, Gene, and Debra make their living by caring for and helping support and heal other people; we hope that we can all show up for them and help them in their healing process.

Reese's sister Amber, with whom Reese lived in New Zealand for many years, is heartbroken too. She loved her brother wilth all of her heart. She is planning to come back to the U.S. to be with her family.

An energy as powerful as Reese's can't be contained by the physical body. His spirit will live forever. Every time you're out in nature, and you experience the power of the Creator, you'll find Resse's energy and feel the good vibe he always brought.

In closing, here is a poem that one of Reese's good friends, Joey Smallwood, wrote for him. Such a beautiful capture of Reese. All that knew him would know.

The night of a thousand burritos

The millions of feet of pow

You had that look of Mescalito

Fearless, devouring the here and now

Fly well old friend

That was a hell of a ride

This is far from the end

Make sure the chile is inside

So it melts well with the cheese

and have one ready for me

on the other side
