At 2:25pm on Thursday, 20th November, in Randwick, Sydney, at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Peni Tuiaki Havea returned to our Heavenly Father in paradise.

After surviving a horrific bike accident in October, Peni was airlifted from Griffith, NSW, to Sydney, where he underwent major spinal surgery. For the past month, he had been in recovery and had begun physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Throughout this time, Peni’s wife, Theresa, and the family remained hopeful and prayerful, fully aware that the road ahead would be a very long one.

Due to complications, Peni suffered a major brain haemorrhage. He was lovingly surrounded by Theresa, his son Andrew, and close family, who prayed with him and gently bid him farewell as the angels lifted him to heaven.

Peni is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa Marie Havea (née Sinisa), and their two sons, David Xavier Havea and Andrew Frances Havea.

As the family’s breadwinner, Peni worked at the Baiada Poultry factory in Griffith, NSW, for the past seven years. Before that, he spent most of his career in the fisheries industry as a skilled knife hand on the Sunshine Coast, QLD, in Warana and Mooloolaba, and previously at Sanford Fisheries in Auckland, New Zealand.

To support Theresa and the boys through their time of grief, and to help ease the financial burden of the forthcoming funeral costs, we are reaching out on their behalf. Our hope is to give Peni the humble yet beautiful farewell he so deeply deserves.
