Hi my name is Henry I’m not so good with writing stories especially about my father.
My father wanted to comeback to Paris to spend Christmas with his family. But as the days passed, his health continued to decline. We encouraged him, supported him, and tried to believe the trip would still be possible. Deep down, though, he knew his body was growing tired. My father carried his strength with dignity, but he also carried a truth he had not yet spoken.
On November 12, he left us. And though he never made it back to Paris, I recently found something he had written—his own testimony, expressing a final, heartfelt wish: he no longer wanted to be buried in Paris. Instead, he wished to return to his roots, to the Ivory Coast, the land that shaped him, the place where his spirit felt most at home.
His words were clear, gentle, and deeply him.
He wanted to rest where his story began.
These past weeks have been incredibly difficult. The funeral homes in Dallas have already taken most of my savings as I worked to give him care and dignity after his passing. Now, I’m doing everything I can to honor his last wish and organize his funeral in Ivory Coast, but the costs are more than I can manage alone.
So I’m starting a GoFundMe—not out of comfort, but out of love and necessity.
If you’re able to contribute or even just share the fundraiser, it would mean the world to me and my family. Every gesture helps bring my father home to the place where he always belonged. Thank you for reading his story
