We are saddened about the passing of Louis Esposito. Louis was a loving husband, grandfather and friend. He was also the father of someone you’ve probably met in some way, Lauren Esposito.
Amanda, Andrea and Steph have all collectively known Lauren for over ten years now. Amanda always calls her “The Mayor” because no matter where Lauren goes there’s always someone who stops and greets her happily. Afterwards, she’ll share about them: “this person’s family does x, this person has done y.” She always makes sure to remember them, too, by some defining good quality she manages to find in everyone. Though it's something to poke fun at her for it, it has always been a reminder of how she touches the people around her. Lauren is someone who, if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting, has never left your memory – she makes everyone she meets feel like a treasured friend. Lauren, even when she is struggling, will always go out of her way for those of us lucky enough to call her a friend.
While in her senior year of high school, Lauren lost her sister Jennifer Esposito to Leukemia. Through their grief, and unsurmountable loss, Lauren’s family became instrumental in raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You’ve no doubt attended one of their events, seen their posters or donated to their cause. This family has supported so many, and has raised money for people who now have a chance at surviving Leukemia and Lymphoma.
We created this page to support a person who has touched so many of us. Not only has Lauren been a wonderful friend to many people over the years, but she is tirelessly assisting Memorial Sloan Kettering in preparing the workforce to deal with this crisis. So, it is imperative that we support her, now, as someone who has lost so much to this virus.
This time isn’t like any other we’ve seen. We unfortunately won’t be seeing crowds coming to show their support for Lauren and her family, we won’t be able to console them or dry their tears, and we won’t be able to honor Louis in the way he deserves. This is what we can do.
Please donate to honor the memory of Louis Esposito, to support our friend, Lauren and to show her family that although we cannot physically be together, that we are by their side during this time of loss and grief.
With Love, Amanda Ognibene, Steph Katz & Andrea Dellal
