On Friday, May 20, 2022, my friend was driving home from UCR to visit his mother when his car suddenly malfunctioned, causing it to burst into flames. He suffered 3rd-degree burns all over his body and was in critical condition, but sadly, he passed away in the afternoon on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 23. He was on the verge of graduating with his bachelor's, with plans on studying I/O Psychology to help provide for his mother since she was overworking herself. His last known words were to his mother on the phone, where he told her that he wanted to eat watermelons with her when he got home, but now all that’s left is a plate of sliced watermelons and a mother who lost her only son.
For most of his life, my friend suffered many hardships that made his life difficult, with one of the more recent ones being his father abandoning his mother and him for another woman. The negative aspects of his life had plagued his mindset for years, and since his mother knew about it, she tried her best to give him the happy life he deserved. Her efforts weren’t in vain since he recently told her that despite all the negative events he experienced, he started to feel genuinely happy with his situation since he had her and his friends to support him.
The proceeds from this fund will be used solely to pay for my friend’s funeral expenses since his mother (Aili Feng) cannot afford them. The excess funds will go to his mother to help pay for his medical bills from his stay in the emergency room.
