In loving memory of our dear friend Brandon Allen,
Brandon was a loving brother, United States Navy Veteran and to many of us, a dear friend. His infectious smile radiated positivity, no matter what was going on. He was motivational, always encouraging us and anyone he met to set goals and an action plan to achieve them. We are very proud of him and all the goals he achieved during his short life on this earth. To his fellow sailors, he was a brother, mentor, leader, and the definition of a shipmate. He always led by example and expected excellence of everything and everyone around him; he would always bring people up and would without a doubt give the shirt off his back. Brandon’s ultimate goal in life was to make the world around him a better place than he found it.
Brandon was born and raised in Oklahoma City, graduating from Southeast High School. Shortly after high school he joined the United States Navy, where he served our country from 2013 to 2022, reaching the rank First Class Petty Officer as a Gas Turbine Technician responsible for maintaining and repairing gas turbine engines and related systems on Navy ships. He started his Naval Career at Pearl Harbor Hawaii onboard the USS Port Royal (CG 73) where he was a key player in taking the aging Cruiser over the horizon on a 7 month WESTPAC deployment. His determination, grit, ambitions, and fortitude enabled Brandon to achieve the prestigious watch station as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) as the youngest at the command during his time to do so. Upon leaving Hawaii, he transferred to San Diego to report to the USS AMERICA (LHA 6) and most recently served as a recruiter in Los Angeles.
Brandon was dedicated to humanitarian work. One of his most memorable moments was in 2019, when he traveled to India with Enlightened, an organization whose mission is to help underserved communities around the world. During that journey he helped deliver iPads, school supplies, clothes, medicine and a car to be used as an ambulance in the remote regions of the Himalayas. Most recently, he planned on returning with the Enlightened team in 2026.
After his military service, Brandon was accepted to UC Berkeley, one of the top public institutions in the United States. He was excited to begin school and welcomed an academic challenge. At Berkeley, Brandon was a dedicated Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major. He was ambitious, curious, and deeply committed to his academics. He embodied the ideal student any professor desired, a student who wanted to understand the material for what it was fundamentally and how he could apply his knowledge towards real projects. Brandon found and created spaces within his time at Berkeley and was involved with the Cal Veterans Service Center. He was accepted as an intern for the summer and set to graduate in 2026.
Brandon leaves behind his beloved sister Tanja Allen and brothers Mike Allen and Dave Allen. His sister Tanja, became his legal guardian shortly after their mother passed away when Brandon was one year old. She raised him as her own son, she was always proud of the young, fine man she raised Brandon to be.
Losing him has created not only emotional devastation but also significant financial challenges for his family. The funds we are raising help cover Brandon's funeral and memorial service expenses as well as support for his family as they navigate the legal challenges during this devastating time.
We hope to alleviate the financial burden on his family so they can focus on grieving and healing. Any contribution is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this link with others.
Fair winds and following seas Brandon
