My family is heartbroken as we mourn the sudden loss of my beloved cousin, Nickolas. On February 7th his passing has left an emptiness that words can barely describe. Nickolas was deeply loved — a son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and kindness to those around him. Just like myself, he would always be willing to extend a hand to help others even if it were outside his capacity to do so and could possibly set him back.

This loss comes at an incredibly painful time. Just four months ago, we also lost Lisa, Nickolas' sister. To experience two devastating losses in such a short time has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on the family. No family should have to carry this weight alone.

It pains me that I need to reach out for help, but I feel that it is necessary and my duty to make sure that his memory is honored. With the help of his Brothers, friends and family, I am certain that we can accomplish our goal.

Nickolas' passing also reminds us how important it is to talk openly about mental health and emotional well-being. Many people struggle in silence with mental health challenges. Behind many smiles are battles we may never see. If sharing Nickolas’ story helps even one person seek help or check in on someone they love, his memory can continue to make a difference.
