With heavy hearts, Michael and Kimberly will bury their son Nehemiah next to their beautiful baby boy Ezra with family gathered around them. Though all of our hearts ache and mourn the loss of their sons, we find an immense amount of peace in knowing that Nehemiah was welcomed into Heaven’s gates with open arms from our Father and his big brother, Ezra.
Michael and Kimberly were filled with joy as they carried their twins for 35 weeks. They celebrated every milestone each time they saw their babies on an ultrasound and heard their heartbeats. On July 8, their lives would again change forever. Kimberly arrived for her weekly check up but this time the doctor could only find one heartbeat. As they rushed to the hospital, prayers filled their hearts as they asked God for a miracle. At 3:15PM they held their son’s body in their arms but Nehemiah had already entered the gates of Heaven. At 3:16PM, Autumn Rayne entered this world with a mighty roar, a miracle cry they have waited to hear. Autumn weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces. A little sister to her two big brothers in Heaven. As Autumn laid on Kimberly’s chest and heard the voice of her mother and father, her heart began to regulate and she was able to fully breathe on her own. There was no need for her to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) after passing all of her tests and blood work. Although born premature, she is a healthy baby girl who's home receiving all the love and cuddles.
Michael and Kimberly find comfort in Isaiah 55:8-9 during this time, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” They have chosen to fix their eyes on Jesus even when they do not understand why.
Thank you friends and family near and far for the outpouring of love, support, and faith filled prayers. The joy in celebrating Autumn’s arrival and the grief of losing Nehemiah has been unexplainable, but we appreciate your kindness, compassion, and generosity during this time. As Michael and Kimberly's older sister, I organized this GoFundMe page on their behalf to help with funeral expenses and for loved ones to share their condolences.
For those who would like to help by providing a meal for Michael and Kimberly, a meal train has been created as well. (mealtrain.com/4m0vg2)
